Tour de Lance

I’m watching the Tour de France again, now that Lance Armstrong is back in. I thought it was dubious that he suggested he was there for “the team.” Lance is a competitor. He’s defending his crown that he let go a few years back; he never lost the crown, however, winning 7 times in a row before he decided to retire and do mountain bike races, marathons, and hang out with Matthew McConaughey.

Now he’s back and so am I. He had a great day yesterday and even had a chance to put down his biggest rival — and teeammate — Alberto Contador:

“When you know what the wind is doing and you see a turn coming up, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that you have to ride in the front,” said Armstrong, who said he decided to come forward just before Columbia accelerated and attributed his performance to “good positioning, experience, a little bit of luck. … I was just trying to stay up front and stay out of trouble, and it happened.”

Apparently, Contador is not a rocket scientist. He may not even be conscious. He made a totally rookie move and he’d better get his head in the game if he wants to win the Tour.

Otherwise, we’re back to calling it the Tour de Lance!
