Two Funny Pictures

Once in a while, I look through my seemingly endless supply of old hard drives, CDs, DVDs, and flash drives. Today, I came across these two.

ELITIST-3This one is funny because it shows who ought to be considered the elitist. John McCain owns so many houses he lost count. Obama knew — exactly — how many houses he owned. It’s really simple when the number of houses you own is in the single-digits.

Now, don’t get me wrong. McCain earned his homes the American old-fashioned way: He married into them. Good for him.

This kind of stuff carpet-bombed his run for the presidency, though, in my opinion. There’s no better story than a black kid, raised by a single parent, who grew up to be a lawyer and then a senator.

Except for an old man, married to a Skelator lookalike, who chose an idiot bitch-in-heat for his running mate.

This next one is topical again because it looks like the facts are coming out around Dick Cheney’s over-involvement in cheney_drevilthe business of the CIA. I like this one because Cheney clearly thought he was Dr. Evil, one of my most favorite comedic villains of all time from Austin Powers.

Cheney’s 8-year term as VP would be funny except that thousands of people died because of his totalitarian ruling bent. His tenure was better than any Shakespeare play. All because Little George Bush wanted to slap his dick on the table to show Saddam Hussein how big it was.

White House threatens budget veto

(Cross posted at Independent Bloggers’ Alliance)

White House threatens budget veto

“The White House on Saturday threatened to veto a massive spending bill being assembled by congressional Democrats, saying it’s unacceptable to add billions of dollars to domestic programs.”

But it’s okay to add trillions (yes, trillions) of dollars to foreign programs. For a guy not into nation building, I guess one could say he’s into nation destruction: Our own as well as Iraq’s.

Merry Christmas!

Redistributing wealth the Republican way: A new socialism

(Cross-posted at Independent Bloggers’ Alliance)

So it seems that the oil men running our country (Bush, Cheney, and Rice!) have had something up their sleeves that we didn’t know about: They’re all for redistributing wealth. They want your money in their pockets! You see, they’re Republican Socialists. Don’t ever let them tell you otherwise! They say the proof is in the pudding. Here’s the pudding.

The link below takes you to a Washington Post article that tells the story of oil wealth gone wild.

Oil Price Rise Causes Global Shift in Wealth – washingtonpost.com:

In the United States, the rising bill for imported petroleum lowers already anemic consumer savings rates, adds to inflation, worsens the trade deficit, undermines the dollar and makes it more difficult for the Federal Reserve to balance its competing goals of fighting inflation and sustaining growth.

Our dependence on oil has been foisted on us by a government that likes it. From not raising CAFE fuel economy standards since the early ’90s to starting a war in an oil-rich nation that could only lead to higher fossil fuel prices — and threatening another — we’ve been duped into giving our money to members of the government rather than the government itself.

Rather than being “handled” by “tax and spend” Democrats, we’re being molested by “don’t tax but raise our cost of energy and spend more” Repugnicans.

It’s time to take our country — and our money — back.

The first step: Take them to task for paying for their ill-conceived and carried-out war — a war — at least Iraq’s reconstruction — that was to be paid for by Iraq oil revenues! In this sense, we’re being taxed twice: Once in terms of tax dollars to pay for the war and a second in terms of higher prices at the pump, at home, in the grocery store, at the hotel, on the plane, and every conceivable place possible.

I’ll leave the second step for another day and another post. Rant over.

Study: 1 out of 4 homeless are veterans – Yahoo! News

Here’s a dilemma: Die-hard Republicans (or Conservatives) may say let the homeless live without a home; it’s not our fault. They can pull themselves up by their bootstraps, just like I did.

But these are the same folks who get all indignant when a liberal doesn’t support the troops (forget for a moment that the ultimate in troop support would be to minimize their chances of getting in harm’s way by not sending them to wars that are stupid).

So, since 1 in 4 homeless are veterans, what’s a guy like Giuliani, Romney, McCain, Paul, Thompson, et al, to do?

Don’t you think we ought to at least give them the mental help they need to get back on their feet, and perhaps — just perhaps — give them something so that they can afford at least the minimum housing (4 walls, a ceiling, water, sewer, heat)?

That would show some troop support.

Or, is it that they support the troops, but not the former troops. As in, what have you done for me (your country) lately?

Here’s some more startling news about our most recent veterans, those who have served in Iraq and/or Afghanistan:

“We’re beginning to see, across the country, the first trickle of this generation of warriors in homeless shelters,” said Phil Landis, chairman of Veterans Village of San Diego, a residence and counseling center. “But we anticipate that it’s going to be a tsunami.”

Well, we know how unprepared this country is for natural disasters (as well as unnatural disasters)!

You’re on your own, soldiers!

Pete Stark goes a little haywire in blasting Bush over SCHIP

Pete Stark goes off the deep end, at the end, where he says Bush is amused when soldiers get their heads blown off. Up to that point, I was on board with Stark.
